NOTE:  Astral Glass has decided not to offer wheeled nippers for sale on its' site due to the fact that they are readily available from other sellers, including Harbor Freight.  As a small company, it is difficult for us to offer the nippers at a competitive price.

Our main focus is to provide a product that saves your hands at a reasonable studio-friendly price.  Any plier type tool can be used in the chopper to reduce hand strain.  As a working glass studio, we want to share the opportunity for other artists to at the very least chop glass for casting and chop cane to consistent lengths for fusing without suffering physically.

What you will need to provide to use your AG ChopMaster™:
  • Protective eyewear
  • Wheeled Glass Nippers (or other plier-type tool)
  • A large C Clamp
  • A plastic shoe box or other receptacle as shown in the tutorials

The ChopMaster™ (patent pending) Story

The ChopMaster™ Story:  In 2007, my husband, Joe, made a base unit for me that held my nippers and relieved the pressure on my hands when I needed to chop glass for casting, chop organic forms for fusing, chop glass for mosaic techniques and refine glass shapes for stained glass. *

Then in 2016 I took a vitrigraph drop bowl class with Nathan Sandberg and realized that while I could pull the cane just fine, unfortunately my arthritis was too severe to cut the cane with a wheeled nipper by hand.  So for the last year an engineer friend and I set out to make an attachment for the base so that it could be used to cut cane at consistent lengths with no hand strain.  We also reworked the original design to be able to manufacture and sell it at a more economical price than the more expensive cane cutters that are currently available.

And that’s how the Astral Glass ChopMaster™ (Patent Pending) was born!!

Proudly manufactured in the USA in Prescott, AZ at DT Products, Inc.  Small component manufacturing done by Yavapai Exceptional Industries and Astral Glass Studio, LLC.
